About SSIEM Symposium Travel Scholarship
The Society invites applications for Travel Scholarships of up to approximately 750 € (seven hundred and fifty Euro) for European candidates, and up to approximately 1 500 € (one thousand five hundred Euro) for candidates outside Europe, to enable SSIEM members to attend the SSIEM Symposium by covering the travel costs (including costs of visa, if necessary).
In addition, the Society will cover the registration fee, ticket for the Networking Evening and accommodation in a hotel that will be booked for you. All travel scholarship winners will stay in the same hotel for up to four nights.
Applicants MUST be under 40 years of age on the first day of the symposium.
Forty travel grants will be awarded to applicants with the highest final scores. The final score will consist of an assessment of financial need and abstract scientific content. Submissions will be ranked by four independent senior SSIEM members. In the event of a tie the award will be given to the applicant with the greater financial need.
Please note, only one applicant per Institution can be awarded. Should multiple applications come from the same institution, only the highest scoring applicant will be considered.
You cannot apply if you have received a travel scholarship for the previous SSIEM Symposium. If you received an award to attend the 2024 Symposium in Porto you will not be eligible to apply for a travel scholarship for the 2026 Symposium in Helsinki.
If Scholarship recipients fail to attend the Symposium for which they were funded, without exceptional circumstances and without notifying the SSIEM Administration Office, they will be ineligible to apply for future travel scholarships.
Registration of SSIEM Travel Scholarship applicants
If you intend to apply for an SSIEM Travel Scholarship, please refrain from registering at this time. If your application is successful, you will receive additional information about how to register.
In the event that your Travel Scholarship application is not successful, you will still have the opportunity to register at the Early Bird rate, even after the official Early Bird deadline has passed.
SSIEM Symposium Abstract
Before proceeding you must have already submitted an abstract for this year’s SSIEM Symposium. You MUST BE the designated abstract presenter AND the first author.
If you are successful in being awarded a travel scholarship, we will display your details on the SSIEM and SSIEM Symposium websites. You will be expected to write a brief report, on your return, about how your attendance at the meeting benefited you, which will be posted in the Awards section of the SSIEM website.
