late breaking news (LBN)

Abstracts of exceptional originality and importance, completed after 18 May may be considered for oral presentation in the Late Breaking News Session if submitted before 15 July directly by e-mail to ssiem2026abstracts@confedent.fi.

The work presented in the LBN session should not be published but ready to be published after submission.

If not accepted, the abstract will not be considered for oral presentations alongside the normal applications in the parallel sessions.

Accepted abstracts will not be included in the digital issue of Abstracts.

The guidelines for submitting a Late Breaking News (LBN) abstract are as follows:

  • Submission Method: Abstracts must be submitted exclusively online and sent to the Secretariat email address: ssiem2026abstracts@confedent.fi as a word file
  • Eligibility: Only abstracts received after 18 May 2026 will be considered for Late Breaking News
  • Presentation Format: The accepted format for Late Breaking News submissions is oral presentation
  • Guidelines: Use the same guidelines and word limit as for the abstract submission
  • Submission Deadline: Abstracts for the Late Breaking News session will be accepted until 15 July 23:59 CEST (UTC/GMT +2 hours)‍

LBN Abstracts will be selected for the Late Breaking News Session on Friday morning.‍

It's important to note that abstracts submitted for Late Breaking News will not be included in the digital issue of Abstracts but will be presented and discussed during the SSIEM 2026, providing researchers with a valuable platform to showcase their latest findings to the scientific community.
